Child Safety

Why did AGWM establish a child safety policy?

  • We have updated and revised our child safety policy to reflect best practices for international organizations.
  • We want to train our workers to interact with children safely and respectfully.
  • We want our TCKs to be safe.  Consistent policies across regions establish best practices for AGWM-provided childcare.
  • We wanted a clear reporting process.  By establishing a helpline, ADs/MDs, Tier 4 leaders, global workers, and TCKs have a consistent way to receive help.

Where can I find the policy?

AGWM’s Child Safety is available here.

What do I need to know about hosting teams?

  • All teams coming to the field are required to complete child safety training that outlines AGWM’s guiding principles as stated in our policy. This is included in registration process through Mobilization or the ISMK office.
  • If you have local protocols in place, please ensure you address them with the team when they arrive.
  • All teams providing childcare to AGWM children must be background checked and sign the Child Safety Policy Agreement after completing the Child Safety Training.

What do I do if I have a concern about compliance with childcare protocols?

If you have a concern about childcare protocols, please get in touch with agwmchildsafety@ag.org. The Child Safety Coordinator monitors this email address and will get back to you in 24/48 hours.

What do I do if I have a concern about a child’s safety?

  • AGWM has established a child safety helpline for you to raise a concern at +1 417-212-5976.  This helpline is available 24/7.
  • The call is routed to a call center, which will direct it to a person who can offer immediate assistance.

Will my concern be taken seriously?

  • Every call will be taken seriously.

Who will know I reported?

  • The person who received the call and the AGWM Child Safety Coordinator (if not, the AGWM Child Safety Coordinator did not receive the call).

Who will respond to the child safety concern?

  • AGWM Child Safety has formed a small response team to support our child safety efforts across AGWM.
